CopernicusLAC Panama Centre

The CopernicusLAC Panama Centre is a regional hub fostering the use of free and open Earth Observation data from Copernicus, the Earth Observation component of the EU Space Programme, in the Latin America & the Caribbean region. We empower the LAC region to address climate vulnerabilities and build resilience through: - Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR): Promoting space-based information for risk mapping and preparedness. - Capacity Building: Providing training and knowledge transfer programmes, hackathons and industrial matchamaking events for stakeholders. - EO Products & Services: Serving as a hub for the development of EO products tailored to LAC's specific needs. The Centre’s implementation is coordinated by the European Space Agency (ESA) in the framework of the EU-LAC Digital Alliance on behalf of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), in partnership with Panama’s Government Innovation Authority (AIG) and SENACYT. The development of the CopernicusLAC Panama Centre is supported by a consortium led by NOVASPACE, and includes ALSO Space, Indra, and CS Group.
