CRC/TRR 287 BULK-REACTION

The CRC/TRR 287 BULK‐REACTION will lay the methodological groundwork to reach full predictability of reactor performance and product quality for large‐scale thermal bulk processes. This is a fundamental step towards the digitalisation of design, operation, and optimization of these energy‐intensive processes, paving the way for a flexible coupling with renewable energy carriers (hydrogen, biomass, electricity). For this purpose, we develop models for reactive particle systems from DNS up to large-scale reactor simulations by DEM/CFD. Additionally, we focus on innovating measurement techniques that provide a detailed insight into the phenomena in moving, reacting particle beds. This CRC/TRR is a joint project of Ruhr-University Bochum, Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Technical University Dortmund as well as Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel.
