The Climate Restoration Safety & Governance Board (CRSGB) publicly reviews climate restoration proposals and projects to verify that they are safe, effective, and ethical. Climate restoration projects require “social license” from frontline communities, scientists, funders, policymakers and the general public. A “social license” requires that stakeholders are confident that the project is safe, ethical and addresses the needs and concerns of people who may be affected. There are no government entities chartered to ensure humanity’s survival, and thus no public organizations positioned to ensure climate restoration projects are safe, effective and ethical. Nonprofits and companies with a mission of climate restoration have formed the Climate Restoration Safety and Governance Board (CRSGB) to provide accountability for the safety and stakeholder needs of projects that restore the climate.
