Cuibono?

Cuibono is the world's first design-driven NGO, established to provide aid to marginalised regions damaged by geopolitical conflicts such as war. Our mission is achieved through the sale of sustainably made products that authentically represent the narratives of these regions. Traditional fundraising methods for NGOs, ranging from personal cash donations to the sale of one-off merchandise and second-hand goods, often target first-time donors by framing the act of giving as a commercial transaction. However, each fundraising avenue faces significant limitations. Merchandise produced for fundraising purposes is often stigmatised for its low quality and lack of sustainability. Typically, these items take the form of graphical imprints on low-quality, mass-produced products such as keychains and mugs, frequently sourced from distanced regions. Consequently, these goods lack environmental impact data and have short lifespans, as well as lacking relevance to the beneficiaries of the funding. In contrast, Cuibono designs fundraising merchandise that directly reflects the narratives of marginalised areas, employing sustainable additive manufacturing techniques. With a commitment to strong design ethics, stakeholders with direct access to the regions validate each design to ensure it authentically represents the local story. Utilising naturally degradable bioplastics and 3D printing, Cuibono enables on-demand production, guaranteeing a rapid fundraising route from design to sales within three months.
