About Calgary Geotechnical Society (CyGS)

The Calgary Geotechnical Society (CyGS) is a local section of the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS). It provides opportunities for continuing professional development for geotechnical engineers and geoscientists in the Calgary area. We host lectures by local, national, and international speakers monthly from September through May. The CyGS is located on the traditional lands of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. This includes the nations of the Blackfoot Confederacy, comprising the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai Nation; the Stoney Nakoda Nations, comprising the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations), and the Tsuut'ina First Nation. Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta (Districts 5 and 6).
