Daahuk

Established in 2017, Daahuk is a community development platform with a mission to drive socio-economic transformation in vulnerable rural areas of Bangladesh by promoting inter-community cooperation, building disaster resilient integrated networks, and incorporating sustainable livelihoods. Since its inception, Daahuk has been working in the climate vulnerable rural areas of Tahirpur, Dharmapasha, and Madhyanagar, which are located in the Tanguar Haor region of Sunamganj district. Daahuk now has expanded its operation among various communities in Sirajganj, Cox’s Bazar, Kurigram, and Munshiganj districts. At its core, Daahuk believes in collective community development through organic transformation, facilitating rural communities with knowledge management, innovation, capacity building, and sustainable livelihood interventions. As an organization, we aim to identify the unique crux of social transformation for each rural community and ensure that their economic empowerment is aligned with their social, cultural, and environmental practices, building the community's capacity to achieve long-term self-sustainability. Daahuk has developed a pathway to connect, involve, and mainstream the local Tanguar Haor community into the emerging tourism industry in the region. Through this process, we have introduced a comprehensive sustainable livelihood intervention focused on community-based tourism and connected the local community with tourists through our digital platform. This approach includes empowering the community through asset remodeling, capacity building, knowledge management, and creating a local business ecosystem. Beyond market incorporation, our digital platform also showcases the untold stories of these remote marginalized communities, promoting a better understanding of them among a wider audience.
