The Diaspora for International Development (DFID) is a UK-based diaspora-led advisory boutique. We leverage the expertise, talent, and resources of the Arab diaspora in the UK to tackle the challenging problems facing the MENA countries Our goal as a dynamic diaspora-led consulting firm is to facilitate and engage diasporas through a number of programs, partnerships, and channels. We believe that diaspora skills, knowledge, market access, and familiarity with local culture and language can be deployed in different forms to impact development. And, commitment to their countries of origin or ancestry suggests that diasporas’ engagement will likely endure beyond collaboration with institutional development actors or other partners and achieve more impactful and sustained outcomes. We believe that engaging diasporas across these areas, policymakers, development practitioners, and private sector companies alike are recognizing not only the economic prowess of diaspora communities but also their role as important stakeholders and potentially powerful actors in international affairs and foreign assistance. We offer rigorous qualitative and quantitative research methods to understand and map out stakeholders. We also conduct research to identify past initiatives and comparative experiences in the UK and the MENA region and internationally to help our clients and partners develop and implement evidence-based policies and programs. We work with our clients on program and project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Depending on the need of the client, we can provide hands-off strategy and implementation recommendations or take a more involved shoulder-to-shoulder approach. 1.
