Our mission is to Accelerate AI-enabled capabilities through strategic portfolio alignment while scaling Department-wide use cases that advance the agency’s core missions; advocate for program offices; lead responsible and trustworthy AI strategies; and expand public, private and international partnerships, policy and innovations – all in support of National AI Leadership and Innovation. To support delivery of clean energy, grid and infrastructure resilience, and prepare and respond to climate change challenges, and to ensure national and economic security our AI strategy centers on five goals. We enable and deliver Energy Justice, clean energy, grid and infrastructure resilience, climate change readiness and management, decarbonization, which ultimately drives economic and national security. Our AI principles embellish ethical, social, as well as technical practices and behaviors. In 2022, AITO’s strategy shifted from tracking inventory management to focusing on the impacts of the AI investments.
