The Dollar a Day Fund for Indigenous Environmental Justice’s mission is to increase individuals’ awareness of the Indigenous environmental justice movement and the unrestricted resources directed to organizations working for environmental justice in their communities.
The Dollar a Day Fund works towards this mission by mobilizing resources to support Indigenous-led organizations working on addressing environmental justice issues. Some examples of issues include but are not limited to resource extraction, health impacts of environmental injustice and land theft in Indigenous communities, and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit (MMIWG2S) epidemic. The fund will also support Indigenous grantmaking and capacity building organizations that have played a key role in supporting Indigenous organizations.
