Department of Paper and Packaging Technology, IIT Roorkee

The Department of Paper and Packaging Technology (DPPT) is one of the distinctive departments of the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, located at its Saharanpur Campus. With a strong foundation in paper, pulp, and packaging technology, the department is driven by highly motivated faculty members engaged in fundamental and applied research in areas such as sustainable paper technology, functional materials, and advanced packaging solutions. Established in 1964 as the School of Paper Technology with support from the Royal Swedish Government, it became part of IIT Roorkee in 2001. The department fosters a highly competitive academic and research environment, offering M.Tech. and Ph.D. programs, and has been at the forefront of industry-oriented research and development. The department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art advanced characterization instruments, including DSC, TGA, FTIR, UV-Vis-IR, DMA, UTM, XRD, AFM, SEM, DLS, GPC, and Packaging Technology Laboratories, among others.
