Dr. McCarthy graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, after first receiving a B.S in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, also from UC Davis.
She is Board Certified in Psychiatry. She chose to train in psychiatry because of the emphasis on the therapeutic alliance with patients, her interest in the mind, and the recognition within psychiatry of the critical role of our environment and relationships.
Through her sister’s health challenges, she was introduced to the extensive body of research on nutrition and health. This ultimately transformed her view of what creates health. She grew alarmed at how much life-changing information exists that the medical profession and the public is largely unaware of, and became determined to bring this information to her community.
Dr. McCarthy immersed herself in learning more about the impact nutrition and lifestyle on health, becoming certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine, and completing additional programs and mentorships, including the Kresser Institute for Functional and Evolutionary Medicine.
Dr. McCarthy is passionate about the power of real food, mindset, and lifestyle to create health. She is committed to continuing to learn about the latest research and treatments and looks forward to partnering with you to heal.
