With climate change a key issue in the world today, electrification of mobility is rising fast. Restricted range, charging speed and cost are standing in the way of wide scale EV adoption. Today's batteries use graphite as an active anode material, whereas silicon has up to ten times more capacity. Until now, the transition to silicon was hindered because silicon can swell and break when charged.
At E-magy, we supply nano-porous silicon for high-energy batteries. Our unique specialty silicon overcomes the swelling challenge by containing the expansion within the nanopores themselves, as validated by ZSW, a leading institute for applied battery research. We make high-energy silicon-dominant anodes a reality, compatible with existing production lines and are ready to scale up.
