Earth Volunteers

Earth Volunteers is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2020 by Nyombi Morris to bring together young people from all over the world who are passionate about protecting the planet in various ways. This organization currently consists of 18 members and has been a registered entity in Kampala, Uganda since January 2024. We help in volunteering in various sectors such as climate summits, climate events, community reforestation programs, workshops, presentations, and climate change education programs. Since our establishment, we have managed to work with different organizations in planting over 50600 trees, and we have also visited and restored 6 diminished forests in Uganda. We provide support for young people who like to pass their message through climate strikes, and for this, we have partnered with Fridays for Future Uganda, Fridays for Future MAPA, and Fridays for Future International. In 2022, we decided to start visiting schools and educating students about the impacts of climate change and how they can make their voices useful for nature, starting from school. When we introduced this initiative, the first organization to endorse it was UNICEF. They even gave us the copyright to their book known as "Our Changing Climate," which we are using today to educate the young generation about these impacts and what actions they can take. Our main focus is on tree planting, which is a cheap and easy-to-implement solution that can be used everywhere. You can choose to plant evergreen trees or citrus trees. For us, we focus on planting citrus in schools and evergreens in communities. As a person living in Africa, where climate change is a very real threat, frontlining striking and taking action in ecosystem restoration is an impactful way to overcome this dangerous catastrophe that is threatening farmers' crops, indigenous communities, and wildlife.
