The Laboratory of Fish Ecophysiology was established in 2017 by Prof. Dr. Md Shahjahan. The lab investigates how environmental factors such as temperature, light, salinity, and anthropogenic stressors such as microplastics, pesticides, and heavy metals impact fish physiology. Utilizing advanced techniques, we analyze blood biomarkers, perform real-time PCR for gene expression studies, and employ histopathological methods to assess tissue damage. Our laboratory utilizes several key model species for research, including zebrafish (Danio rerio), Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), Indian major carp (Labeo rohita), striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus), and common carp (Cyprinus carpio). Our multidisciplinary approach produces valuable insights into fish physiology, advancing both sustainable aquaculture and environmental conservation.
