Education Equity Solutions

To advance equity in higher education for students from systematically excluded communities, Education Equity Solutions conducts research and facilitates learning opportunities that challenge the inaccurate public narratives that fuel inequitable higher education policies and practices. Led by Founder & Executive Director Mina Dadgar, our work centers the voices and experiences of students and communities most impacted by inequitable educational opportunities to find solutions that work for them. Our research and learning agenda aims to build a higher education system where race and family income no longer determine access to higher education attainment or careers that create economic mobility. Education Equity Solutions’ research agenda focuses on changing the narrative on two critical higher education issues: Equitable access to credentials with economic mobility, and Inclusive higher education mathematics instruction. 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Our work on economic mobility shifts the narrative on how colleges define program quality. Rather than relying on outdated notions of value from policymakers, our research helps higher education prioritize graduates’ real-world experiences as they enter the workforce. We investigate both the opportunities and challenges in ensuring that educational programs effectively foster meaningful economic mobility for students of color by focusing on the value thresholds set by graduates. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We conduct research and facilitate learning on effective college math instructional practices to challenge the narrative that students of color are responsible for the racial disparities in gateway math course outcomes. Our research identifies successful strategies to support students of color, providing practical examples and tools that can be adapted by the field to ensure equity and success in math instruction.
