About Extremism and Gaming Research Network (EGRN)

The Extremism and Gaming Research Network (EGRN) brings together world-leading counter-extremism organizations to develop insights and solutions for the exploitation of online gaming by violent extremists. OUR MISSION Gamers discover adventure, fun, and community online. At the same time, violent extremist organizations are actively exploiting online gaming across the world. The EGRN was founded with this in mind as a global Network to expand and enhance evidence-based research on topics relating to the nexus between gaming and extremism, as well as to provide effective solutions for various public and private stakeholders. As a fundamental aspect of this mission, the EGRN is devised to work collaboratively with gaming platforms in designing and implementing viable solutions with sustainable results. WHO WE ARE We are a collaborative, largely flat network designed by practitioners and researchers, for practitioners and researchers. The Network is comprised of a three-tiered membership framework: 1. Founding and Core Membership – including institutional or individual level members most actively participating in the EGRN activities, research, and proposals of projects. 2. General Membership – including institutional or individual level members with interest in participating in EGRN activities and research. 3. Interested Supporters – including organizations with interest in the research and activities of the EGRN but not directly contributing to the outputs.
