Eisbein USA

Since 1948, the annual Eisbeinessen in Hamburg has been the networking highlight of the international shipping industry. Every year on the first Friday in November, shipbroking companies, ship agents, freight forwarders, bunker traders, insurance agents, and bankers from around the world meet in Hamburg to catch up with old friends and colleagues and create new contacts. This shipping tradition has been carried to other shipping centers all over the world. In 2009, some Houston-based carriers led by Scan-Trans took the initiative to have their own Eisbeinessen in Houston. While most of those companies are no longer around, the employees who were the driving force to start Eisbein USA at the time can still be found at today’s events. Like the Hamburg role model, the Houston Eisbeinessen takes place every year on the first Friday in November. A little different from the original German event, the American offspring is a Carrier only event, with a limited number of invitation-only Vendor sponsors. In 2013 the Eisbein USA assumed the additional role as a scholarship fundraiser to support the next generation of Industry Professionals.
