About Elva Bio
Elva Bio is a soon to be spin-out company from the University of Helsinki, aiming to develop unique materials for next generation 3D bioprinting of cells. Bioinks are the essential component of 3D bioprinting, a technology for fabricating tissue and organ models for drug testing. The biggest problem in this potential revolutionary technology remains as the lack of a versatile bioink material for real 3D bioprinting to fabricate complex tissues or organs. The market potential of bioinks is limited by their inability to achieve 3D bioprinting in high resolution. Elva Bio will open this bottleneck for development of 3D bioprinting technology, via enabling industrial and academic researchers to fabricate tissue and organ mimics with high shape-fidelity. The bioinks we are developing are compatible with different types of cells, providing them a happy home. The uniqueness of our product comes from its compatibility with current bioinks and other biological materials. We believe, this uniqueness will accelerate the trend of innovation via enabling the usage of current bioinks for high resolution 3D bioprinting. This project was co-funded by Business Finland.
