Interior Designer, Emma Webb takes a holistic and biophilic approach to Interior Design. Our physical environment impacts on our emotions and wellbeing so we need to design spaces that are not only beautiful but that also support positive lifestyle choices, health and wellness. Biophilic interior design is all about enhancing how people feel in a space by engaging with natural systems. Much research has been conducted over the last 20+ years that demonstrates how regular interaction with nature (even imitated nature - images of natural settings, house plants, digital sounds etc.) can lower blood pressure/heart rate, decrease levels of the stress hormone - cortisol, restore energy levels and improve concentration. We spend 90 percent of our lives indoors, cut off from the natural systems we evolved from, it is no surprise that the primitive parts of our brain crave this reconnection. Nudge design considers how the body and brain respond to the built environment and encourages better lifestyle habits (exercise, food choices) by reducing the effort to make the right choice. Over a 25+ year career, Emma has built an extensive portfolio of distinctive projects in Ireland and Internationally. She is experienced, knowledgeable and committed to providing the highest standards of practice. Emma’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, WELL Building Standard professional accreditation as well as Biophilic design, Healthier Materials and sustainable building certificates. Emma is also a fully accredited international SBID (The Society of British and International Interior Design) design professional , has achieved Business All-Star Accreditation and been named South Dublin Interior Design Company of The Year 2023 by the All-Ireland Business Foundation.
