About EnergyConnect
Energy Connect is working on Federal Government projects to provide more reliable and cost effective electricity to regional and remote communities. Our projects are building a detailed business case for microgrids and upgrading existing off-grid technologies. The objective of the programs are to support regional communities into new energy technologies which will also increase human capital (skills/knowledge). Our regional and remote communities need an affordable energy supply they can rely on to ensure local businesses can grow and thrive which means more jobs and more economic activity. EnergyConnect is the brand name for the Feasibility projects, which are being undertaken by a group of businesses led by local engineering consultancy Ener-G Management Group. • Ener-G Management Group - www.ener-g.com.au • ITP Renewables - www.itpau.com.au • The Missing Link Resources - www.the-missing-link.com.au • Planz Town Planning – www.planztp.com Our projects include the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities of Muralug (Prince of Wales Island), Napranum and Yarrabah. _________________________________________________________________ Muralug Island is a community in the Torres Straights that currently has no community energy infrastructure. The residents of Muralug Island have long sought a reliable and ecumenical energy supply solution that facilitates a similar standard of living to their immediate neighbours at Horn and Thursday Island. Napranum currently sources it energy supply from Rio Tinto’s Weipa power station and would benefit from having a dedicated, sustainable on-site generation systems to future-proof the community and prepare for future decoupling from existing power supply when the Weipa town mining activity ceases. Yarrabah will be a knowledge sharing showcase of a self-reliant, sustainable livelihoods that includes microgrid and e-mobility technology that can be rolled out to other communities.
