The Be'er Sheva branch of Engineers Without Borders was established by Raz Ayzex and Barak Halpern 4 years ago and is currently managed by Osher, a biotechnical engineering M.A. student at Ben-Gurion University, and is guided by Professor Asher Brenner. The activity of the branch is being run by four teams of students from the different departments of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at the University. The various teams are: Water - engaged in filtering and purifying water to make them drinkable. Developing a system that is based on the use of basic materials such as sand and gravel. “We strive to allow everyone anywhere, to enjoy clear and clean drinking water”. Urban Agriculture – experimenting on a hydroponic system donated to us by StartUpRoots. "With the knowledge we gain, we wish to build increasing number of hydroponic systems in educational institutions, towards greater exposer to sustain and modern agriculture. Energy – focuses on renewable energy for simple solutions, such as street lightning. Recycling - focuses on recycling and reusing of construction waste as building materials. “We strive to enhance the awareness to recycling of construction waste”.
