About The Center for Global Engagement Technion
Engineers without Borders (EWB) Technion was established in 2008 by Prof. Mark Talesnick, as part of the global movement. Since then, we provide different interdisciplinary and hands-on learning experiences enabling students to apply fundamental and theoretical knowledge to real-world situations. *Our vision: Sustainable Future and fundamental change in the perception of engineering and its role towards achieving the SDG's. "it's not about technology, it's about the people!" (Bernard Amadei, the founder of EWB USA). A vision built on the belief that the engineering profession can and should work towards changes that allow the planet, including all people and living things, to thrive. . Where people are involved, leading, and taking responsibility for the local and global community they live in. and where community members and experts could build and develop the structure and content of their lives. **Our mission: To create transformative experiences for students, volunteers, and community members, that enrich the view on global perspectives and create responsible global and local leaders. While supporting local community-driven development worldwide, through long-term partnerships that design, and implement sustainable engineering projects and challenge students and all involved, to approach problems with innovative and critical thinking. *** Goals • Promote sustainable engineering solutions that will improve the quality of life and will empower the community members. • Promote students and professionals to develop the skills to reflect on and think critically about sustainable engineering • Provide academic and extra-curricular platforms for Participatory, Sustainable Community Development. • Raise the awareness of local and global socio-environmental issues in the Technion, in our partnering communities, and in our working environment
