EPD International

The International EPD System (IES) is a global programme for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), a Type III environmental declaration following the principles of ISO 14025. An EPD is a standardised document that communicates a product’s environmental impact. It enables global comparisons of environmental performance across products of the same category. Based on life cycle assessment, an EPD provides an objective and transparent description of a product’s environmental footprint. Independent verification enhances its credibility in reporting the environmental performance of products and services. IES is operated by EPD International AB, a subsidiary fully owned by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
