EPICS Pharmacy (PHARM)

The EPICS Pharmacy team is a group of innovative Purdue students working on various pharmacy-related projects to help make a difference in their community. The PHARM team currently has 3 projects: 1. The A2D2 (Autonomous Assisted Dispensing Device) team is working to develop a medical dispenser for all categories of visually challenged individuals that ensures full user autonomy. The project is in its early stages but expects to deliver a self-contained unit that releases medication from pill bottles at pre-set times and alerts the user, with the needs of the visually impaired in mind. The project is in partnership with Purdue College of Pharmacy. 2. The MAS (Medical Automation Solutions) team is working on a robotic dispensing system targeting small retail pharmacies. The goal of the system is a unit of use packaging. This unit will be able to contain the quantity of prescription medication as well as package and label specifically for the patient. Therefore, the pharmacist using the robotic dispenser can prepare the prescription easily. The Purdue College of Pharmacy is the project partner. 3. The KIOSK team is working on a senior station to help older adults with OTC medications. The team is currently working on designing and building the physical kiosk that patients will be interacting with. The project is in collaboration with Indiana CTSI's Transitional Research Development Program.
