About Equality League
Equality League is an international advocacy organization dedicated to advancing gender equality in and through sports. We focus on dismantling barriers to safety, access, and equality for women and girls so that they stay in sport to reap the lifelong benefits—positive mental, physical, and emotional health impacts, and educational, financial, and leadership opportunities. We train athletes---including a Youth Council of student-athletes---to pressure decision makers to change discriminatory and abusive policies and practices and to enact laws that protect the rights of women, girls, and children. Since founding, Equality League has advocated to protect child athletes from all forms of abuse---especially sexual, physical, and mental abuse. We tackle the worst barriers that women and girls face in sport because those barriers are mirrored in society—gender-based violence and harassment, and gender discrimination such as unequal pay, low representation, poor investment, inferior resources, and reduced opportunities. The advances we make in sport cross over to other sectors and help transform cultural and societal norms. Athletes are role models with massive platforms whose influence transcends race, gender, borders, sectors, and socioeconomic status. Thus, we created an athlete-led, impact-driven approach focused on cutting-edge advocacy that includes compelling storytelling, public campaigning at major sporting events, human rights fundamentals, and strategic partnerships. With seven years of proven impact, Equality League is now developing a youth-led movement for gender equality in and through sports. In June 2025, our Youth Council launched their first campaign named #DearFIFA with a video and open letter calling for FIFA to establish a child safeguarding policy before the World Cup 2026.
