Ermi is a Transaction Monitoring (TM) and financial crime tool aimed at helping firms in the payment services and remittance sector to monitor their transactions for indicators of financial crime.
Rather than build a fancy case management tool that generates graphs or stores responses from employees investigating alerts, Ermi uses a simple upload and report mechanism which can be setup by most in house IT teams very quickly.
This left much more time to concentrate on what we felt was important about a piece of TM software, actually detecting financial crime.
To do this we have integrated Ermi with a range of external research, sources, data and intelligence and taught her the typologies to identify specific crimes.
For example, there is a risk of vulnerable people in nursing homes being the victims of identity theft. Their ID documents are often left with the nursing home and they are often unaware of what they might be used for. To combat this, Ermi checks the address of all transactions against the Care Quality Commission register of known nursing and care homes, if activity is seen in such a place, Ermi will flag that profile.
Ermi also links to the companies house registry so that she can check if your UK based corporate clients have filled their accounts, or if they recently went into administration.
