ETH Moto Racing

Our internal research at ETH Zurich showed that an innovative use of composites in motorcycle structures can result in more a more efficient design than the current state-of-the-art. Unlike previous attempts in motorcycle racing, we do not mainly intend to use our advanced materials to lower weight but to improve structural behaviour. We are convinced that the use of composites in the structural components of motorcycles will push the performance boundary even further while increasing safety of motorsports at the same time. In order to reach this goal. our team - consisting of dedicated mechanical engineering students from ETH Zurich - is developing and producing a prototype racin bike, similar to the ones made for the FIM Moto3 category. Last October, we competed against 71 teams from 4 continents during the 5th MotoStudent competition in Aragon, Spain. Our top 3 position in the rookies' category confirmed that we are on the right track and we will continue our journey in the 6th MotoStudent competition.
