GBY, stands for "Go By Yourself". This start-up was born following an accident in 2013 of its co-founder, Sebastian Tobler, which left him quadriplegic. Engineer and sports enthusiast (mountain biking, ski touring, running, ...) he wanted to continue to be able to move around in "his" nature with a three-wheeled bike that would also allow him to move his disabled legs. Having found nothing on the market, he built his first prototype: the "trike". Seeing the interest of others in this new three-wheeled bike, GBY was born in 2016. Thanks to two young engineers, Chang-Ho and Simon, the first series of Go-Tryke Easy was born in 2019. Convinced of the idea, they worked day and night to make it a reality: from the design to the components, from the calculations to the measurements, they got involved for a breathtaking result! The Go-Tryke has the particularity of combining the movement of the legs and arms while respecting the synchronisation of the gait. The effects of this exercise are the subject of a collaborative study with the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the Bernese University of Applied Sciences (HESB-TI) and the EPFL (NeuroRestore group). It should be noted that GBY is active in the search for new solutions such as the on-board epidural electrical stimulation on the Go-Tryke. A project in collaboration with NeuroRestore (Prof. Bloch and Courtine). GBY is also developing other projects in collaboration with the Berne University of Applied Sciences and the Fribourg University of Applied Sciences. To be continued...
