The Multi-donor action "EU Support to Strengthen the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans” (EU4FAST) is implemented by a consortium of partners: the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Austrian Ministry of Interior, the German Federal Police (Bundespolizei), the Dutch Center for International Legal Cooperation (CILC), the international technical cooperation operator of the French Ministry of the Interior CIVIPOL, the Croatian Ministry of the Interior, the Hungarian Ministry of the Interior, the Italian Ministry of the Interior and the Slovenian Ministry of the Interior.
The project is aimed at improving the conditions for preventing and combatting migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings in the Western Balkans. The team consists of a wide range of experts through embedded country teams (ECTs), including police officers, prosecutors, legal advisers, protection advisers, project assistants and administrative officers.
The active support to the relevant institutions at the operational level will in turn support the WB6 advance on their path towards their EU accession by providing tailored support in line with the specific needs of the partner institutions and stakeholders at national and regional level.
