Cara Houser is a real estate development professional with 20 years of experience leading projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ve worked in both support and leadership roles on dozens of projects ranging from commercial rehabs to mixed-use, mixed-income multifamily new construction, with budgets ranging from $5M - $200M. My teams foster a shared commitment to and responsibility for budget, schedule, design standards, and project values. Working together to create successful projects that benefit everyone (future residents, existing community, the environment, investors, and future generations) is like solving a complex and deeply rewarding puzzle. Bringing real estate projects to life from concept through feasibility, acquisition, design, community outreach, approvals, financing, and construction, all the way through to completion and smooth turnover to operations or sale has allowed me the broad-based perspective needed to plan thoroughly and anticipate challenges, leading and working within multi-functional teams where all are invited to offer their best effort and talent toward shared success. My leadership style is collaborative, engaging, and can-do and I’ve honed a combination of strong communication, strategy, and execution skills along with the flexible creativity needed to adjust and evolve in response to changing circumstances and external environments. Project specialties include: mixed-use, mixed-income, multifamily, urban infill, student housing, and transit oriented developments.
