Exactics is a UChicago/Tulane undergrad-founded startup committed to developing rapid, reliable, and cost-effective diagnostic technologies for infectious diseases. Our flagship product, QuickLyme®, is a lab-free rapid test that detects Lyme disease in ticks, delivering results in just 15 minutes—enabling swift, informed treatment decisions for anyone who’s been bitten, whether it’s you or your pet.
In addition to QuickLyme®, Exactics holds multiple patents for our novel diagnostic platform, Proteus+™, which can be adapted to rapid tests for over 200 arthropod-borne diseases. Through joint research initiatives with institutions in Illinois and Nigeria, we’re actively expanding this technology for application in neglected tropical diseases.
Our founding team consists of five undergraduates—four from the University of Chicago and one from Tulane University—with academic expertise in biology, chemistry, computer science, and economics. Our board of advisors includes four tenured professors from the University of Ibadan, Lagos State University, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Cambridge.
We have participated in the NSF i-Corps program, the Polsky BUILD Accelerator at UChicago, and the P33 Chicago Speed Round. Additionally, we have secured funding through pitch competitions such as DePaul University Pitch Madness, Tulane Pitch Friday hosted by the Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship, and Open MIC Night hosted by Tulane Medical School and the Tulane Innovation Institute.
With the adaptability of our Proteus+™ platform, we aim to introduce affordable, efficient, and accessible diagnostics for a range of diseases, including malaria, dengue fever, Lassa fever, West Nile virus, and more to fight infectious diseases worldwide.
