ExMachina SAS was a stage engineering startup active from 2014 to 2020. This entity is now an exclusive engineering R&D hub for the Showtex group.
Co-founded by Matthieu GUICHON, Benoit RAPIDEL and Yvan GRUMEAU, the company started as a student project sponsored by the Lyon Opera House in 2013.
The company developed and commercialized a range of integrated automation systems for shows. A strong focus was brought on modularity and reusability, to save resource and open a rental business model.
Applications were often friction driven, for rotative applications like revolving platforms, or heavy translations of sets.
The team also delivered a variety of special machinery and provided 360° engineering services, building a reputation of specialists.
In 2016, the company joined the ShowTex group, with a mission to develop innovative products. The team led 6 developments for the group while providing support to branches around the world. ExMachina counted 7 full time engineers in 2019 and reached 650k€ turnover.
In early 2020, the company was completely integrated in the Showtex group and became it’s engineering R&D hub in electronic and software field.
