About Experimental Psychology Lab

The Experimental Psychology Lab at the Psychology Department of Carl von Ossietzky University focuses on the physiological aspects of cognitive functions such as attention, memory, and perception. We use methods like EEG, MEG, fMRI, EEG-Neurofeedback, eye-tracking, neural network simulations, and psychophysics. A primary goal is to understand the role of brain oscillations in cognitive functions by analyzing different frequencies in both healthy individuals and patients and using neural network models to test these functions. Recently, we have incorporated non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (TMS and TES) to study the effects of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) on brain oscillations and cognitive processes. The aim is to establish a causal link between brain oscillations and behavior, which could lead to clinical applications.
