Political Cognition LAB, PAN

Political Science LAB is an interdisciplinary team of social psychologists and sociologists, which was created out of the need to explore the issues of social and political behavior. Our task is to explain the relationship between specific types of activities undertaken in public space and the factors conditioning them, such as: professed values, beliefs, personality traits, cognitive styles, demographic variables and many others. What are the motivations and what are the barriers to civic participation? What is contemporary patriotism? Where does friendship versus intergroup hostility come from? Who and why believes in conspiracy theories and trusts fake news? We try to answer these and other questions by implementing various research projects. The projects carried out as part of the Political Science LAB include basic and applied research, carried out as part of research grants awarded by renowned domestic and foreign units. Our team consists of people specializing in quantitative and qualitative research. We carry out research on representative samples, using a whole range of statistical analyzes (e.g. regression analyses, modeling of structural equations, segmentation analyses). We also conduct research in experimental schemes - using not only declarative, but also behavioral methods of data measurement. We explore the research topics we raise with the use of in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus groups (FGIs). All this to test various scientific models and propose innovative interventions that meet the challenges posed by the contemporary world of politics.
