Fund for African Rural Innovation Promotion farip scouts for ideas among rural Africans for income-generating ventures they want to try out. We support them to explore their ideas through their own research and experimentation and through connecting them with relevant information and training opportunities. farip then invests with soft loans so that the innovators have a chance to bring their ideas to the point where they become investable registered African start-up companies with a business plan, that was tested in pilot-runs to show a chance to achieve commercial viability. farip withdraws from a venture after the start-up company manages to get loans under normal commercial conditions to finance its business plan.
