Feed Their Minds

Feed Their Minds' mission is to find, support, and improve gifted children at school and in their family life. People that have an I.Q. over 130 are 5% in the world, this means that in Italy 390.000 students can be gifted. New studies show that giftedness is the result of a different activity of the brain caused by a more intense sensory and emotional stimulation, this means that gifted people are not only more intelligent but also different thinkers, they have an unusual way to live emotions and feel the world. This means also that gifted children and teens can be more fragile and can find difficulties in places created for normal children. In Italy and some other European countries, there are no programs destined for gifted children at school, this makes it impossible to recognize and support them. The traditional didactic and evaluation system is completely inappropriate to develop their talents and can cause so much stress that gifted drop out in Italy involves 10% of students. Recently Miur has recognized gifted students as Special Need Education, so the life of gifted is going to change as it happened for DSA in 2010. Our project, which involves Pavia University, Matepristem Bocconi, and Mondadori Rizzoli teachers training, consists of training teachers about giftedness, give them screening instruments using gamification, and toolkits on our website.
