FICUS ( Foundation For Intersectional Climate & Urban Sciences )

FICUS (Foundation for Intersectional Climate and Urban Sciences) aims to empower students and teachers from middle schools, understand environmental issues in the context of their academic curriculum, using action research methodology. Through our work we envision children of government schools understand their environment better, appreciate natural resources, learn to more about biodiversity, all of which will enable them to build on foundational literacy and numeracy. The name, ‘FICUS’, which is scientific name for the fig tree, being a keystone species, supports many organisms in the ecosystem, which is exactly what we envision the organisation to be, a place where people with a common vision have a chance to collaborate.
