Effaeye has worked as a violin and fiddle teacher for over 25 years. Focused on listening, rhythm, flexibility and confidence, Effaeye's original pedagogy incorporates her training in dance, theater and improvisation. Her curriculum includes Irish and Canadian dance music, and her individualized teaching style brings out every student's potential for playing with artistry and musicality. Patient and creative, she's a very experienced teacher of children and beginners of all ages. For intermediate through advanced students, Effaeye offers expertise in tone production, rhythm, phrasing, and stage presence. Effaeye has worked as an instructor at UW’s Odyssey Junior Music Program, Monroe Street Arts Center, Music con Brio, Maine Fiddle Camp, and the UW Summer Music Clinic, along with freelance teaching and performing in New England and the Midwest. She was a student of violinist Dr. Joseph Conte (concertmaster of the Rhode Island Philharmonic). Effaeye holds two certifications from the Bates Dance Festival Professional Training Program, and her curriculum of creative movement and music has been presented at libraries, schools, and children’s museums since 2003. Effaeye's original fiddle compositions are on four albums (@fiddledancemusic). Master fiddler Greg Boardman described her music as “inviting, warm, energized and straight ahead, with a bit of mischief thrown in.” Reviewer William Cutlip noted she “plays a fine, rhythmically charged fiddle informed by time spent with Don Roy and other Maine fiddle monsters.” Reviewer Will Gottlieb described her work as a fiddler and singer as "a powerful performance … marked by front-porch informality and graced with superior musicianship.” Effaeye performs at galas, weddings, house concerts and receptions.
