About Family Inclusion Network WA (FinWA)
Fin WA provides support and advocacy for birth families* of children subject to, or at risk of, interventions in the child protection system. The lived experience and voices of families is used to influence structural, and system change to ensure involvement for families at all points in the system - from prevention to out of home care. OUR VISION is communities will be safe for all children and families. Children will experience the benefit of having their parents, family and community involved in respectful and inclusive decision making about their lives and futures. OUR VALUES: Integrity; Respect; Inclusion; Justice; and Teamwork OUR SERVICES: Individual Advocacy - our staff can provide information about child protection processes, attend meetings and court, and refer you to appropriate community support including legal services. Parenting Service - The Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK) Program offers a series of workshops, a weekly playgroup or home visits. For more information about this trauma informed program that build positive parent-child relationships Family Partner (Peer) Program - the voices and experiences of parents who have been involved with the child protection system are highly valued by Fin WA. The Family Partner program provides training and supervision so peers can be employed to walk alongside others going through a similar journey. Systemic Advocacy - Fin WA recognises the structural barriers that impact families and can bring them to the attention of child protection interventions, particularly family violence, poverty, homelessness, parental ill health, and other social and public health issues. Community Development - to work collaboratively with families, and other service and government to bring about social change. Training and consultations - about the child protection system in WA to build the capacity of staff in other organisations who support families involved with the system.
