FIU Chapter of Society for Human Resource Management

Florida International University’s (F.I.U.) student chapter #5517, of the Society for Human Resource Management (S.H.R.M.), include undergraduate Human Resource Management (H.R.M.) students and graduate students enrolled in the MSHRM program. This chapter is beneficial for students who are looking to develop their professional networks, learn from first-hand accounts by guest speakers who are already in the field of Human Resources (H.R.), and to prepare themselves for the professional world. F.I.U.’s S.H.R.M. chapter strives to bring resources and professional guidance from large corporations and leaders for our members so that they may have the opportunity to become well-rounded H.R. Professionals. Chapter activities include hosting guest speakers, recruiting, career development workshops, community service and professional networking opportunities to name a few. In Spring 2014, student chapter members organized the first annual H.R. Career Development Day on the M.M.C. campus. This event included a full day of workshops led by local H.R. professionals and attracted students from across Florida. A few of F.I.U. S.H.R.M. chapter’s achievements: -Our Graduate Team of Students won 1st place in the HR Florida Student Case Competition in Orlando on January and April 2016. -The Undergraduate Student Team won 2nd place in the SHRM National Student Case Competition in Utah.
