A note, from the Founders Desk:
Chess has been a fundamental part of my family for 3 generations. It all began back in the year 2000, when my son (age 4.5 at the time) expressed an interest in the game. As a mother, I wanted to do all that I could to support him.
That's what got me into Chess coaching. The more we practised, the more we fell in love with the game.
My son, trained by me - went to his first tournament at the age of 6. "I want to see how professional chess feels", he tells me.
We had a few initial setbacks, no doubt. But my little boy had heart. He did not give up.
Neither did I.
Together, we worked hard. The results began to reflect our efforts.
Soon, to everyone's surprise, my son was winning at tournaments in age categories even double his age. More students began to sign up for my coaching.
By the age of 8, he was ranked the #1 in Mumbai, securing the 1st rank at one of the city's largest tournaments - Bournvita Inter-school Chess championship.
This event was also where a lot of my other students won in other categories, and I was bestowed a 'Best Coach' award.
My son (now an arena FIDE Master title holder) and several of our students have gone on to hold rankings at State & National levels as well.
From our humble beginnings ²¹ years ago, we are fortunate to have been able to guide over 1100 students thus far (and still going strong!)
