Formation Damage & Sand Control Testing is a research and commercial lab at the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Alberta, under the direction of Professor Alireza Nouri. The lab builds and utilizes formation damage and sand control testing equipment, customizes testing and data analysis methodologies, and develops design criteria.
The lab includes the following testing equipment:
1- HP-HT sand control and formation damage testing
2- Multi-phase Sand Retention Testing (SRT)
3- Scaled Completion Testing (SCT)
4. Full-scale Completion Testing (FCT)
5. SAGD Injection Well Flow Back SRT (In-SRT)
6. Dual-liner SRT (Gas Reservoirs)
7-Standalone Sand Screen (SAS) Erosion Testing
The lab also provides rock mechanics (triaxial), perforation, and hollow cylinder testing for wellbore stability and sanding assessments.
