GASP is a research group whose historical focus is the modeling of process equipment/units. The development of more and more reliable commercial simulators might make the mission of the group seem less effective. On the contrary, the coupling with an in depth modeling of thermodynamic phenomena which represent the core of the separation processes and with a multiphysic approach to complex phenomena (e.g., the mass transfer with reaction in the amine washing) has allowed to go beyond the simple use of commercial simulators by utilizing them as frameworks on which to develop simulation packages with high prediction level.
