Geed Beer, Rejo Beer Initiative

Geed Beer, RejoBeer (“Plant a Tree, Plant Hope”) is a youth-led campaign to restore hope in Somaliland that was founded in January 2017. This program is aiming to protect the environment, empower the youth, and join the different parts of the community to participate in the replantation of Somaliland. The result of heavy deforestation in the natural forest reserves and lack of sentimental awareness emerged in the destruction of the natural. Due to a lack of knowledge among the youth and the community in general deteriorated the environmental conditions of Somaliland. We therefore established various initiatives to stand with the environment and replant trees to tackle the deteriorating environmental conditions. Our Mission: This is to educate and inspire people to plant trees within Somaliland and help reduce the impact of climate change. Our Vision A greener, brighter future for Somaliland. Objectives:  Is to encourage people in Somaliland and overseas to volunteer their time, get involved and help with planting the trees.  To protect the plant from livestock, and to ensure the survival of the tree.  To plan and run tree-planting events across the six major regions in Somaliland (Marodi-jeeh, Sahil, Togdheer, Awdal, Sool, and Sanaag).  To use different communication tools to create awareness, information, and education about the vital role trees play in the prevention of drought.  To be independent of any political groups or affiliations. We will, however, work with the government regarding key policies that may have an impact the preservation and conservation of our trees.  To work with educational institutes, private and public sector to participate in the initiatives
