Mentorship There are several definitions of mentorship. It is where a more experienced professional (mentor) works with a less experienced individual (the mentee), to share experience, knowledge, and insights. This helps the mentee and mentor to stretch and grow professionally. Mentoring is not just about teaching, it is all about developing leadership capabilities, learning, developing professionally and personally, creating, and fostering relationships, empowering yourself and others, inspiring others by role modelling, and setting the stage for success. (BMO Haskayne Mentorship program) I have been formally starting mentoring since early 2011. However, I started doing this early in my career and developed my staff so that we can grow and further their career. It was an opportunity for me to guide and support my mentees in their professional development and enhance their leadership skills.
