About General Biologics, Inc.

General Biologics, Inc. (GB) is a protein engineering company with a platform technology for targeting therapeutic proteins to red blood cell precursors and mature red blood cells. Targeting to red blood cell precursors allows us to specifically activate red blood cell production without inducing side effects from other tissues. Binding to mature red blood cells enhances plasma half-life and shields therapeutic proteins from detection by the immune system. The platform technology is based on licenses from Harvard University and INSERM/Erganeo (the French NIH equivalent and its licensing arm). At present, General Biologics is located in biotech incubator space the Harvard Medical School/Blavatnik Life Lab. The Company produces its own recombinant proteins in mammalian cells and yeast, and performs biochemical and cell-based assays for activity. Animal testing through Harvard Medical School is available to GB. General Biologics also performs contract, fee-for-service consulting in design of engineered proteins, including design and optimization of amino acid sequences including non-antibody therapeutic elements, antibody elements, linkers, etc. as well as DNA coding sequence and expression vector design.
