GID was formed in 2009 by the management of Bank of Scotland that led a motor industry renowned financial services operation, providing specialist advice to customers as they purchase motor vehicles, the second largest asset that anyone is likely to invest after their home. GID is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we work alongside clients who are motors dealers, motor finance companies and brokers to provide important advice and gather important information from customers as they take delivery of their next car. We are not a marketing company, we are a firm of compliance-led advisors operating exclusively in the motor industry making a one-off call to the customers of our clients just after they take delivery of their next vehicle. With the implementation of Consumer Duty, GID can offer our clients a menu of different services. Within the one-off call we complete a Sustainability Check to assess the customers’ demands and needs for any General Insurance products the clients wants to offer such Guaranteed Asset Protection and Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. As part of the same call, we gather information to complete a Validation Service and a Consumer Duty Assessment on behalf of our client. The data we produce from these two services provides our clients with independently sourced accurate record keeping on the feedback from their customers. This gives our clients a lead on identifying any potential consumer issues that may arise such as “I have not taken delivery of the car”, “I am returning the car”, “I am unclear on the date/amount of my first payment”, “I didn’t apply for this car finance (potential identity fraud issue). We work with our clients to agree the content of the Validation and Consumer Duty services so it gathers relevant, factual information sourced real-time by an independent firm with Principal Status under the FCA.
