The history of the GWU does not stop with the ending of various important events. The GWU is a dynamic organisation and its role is an ongoing process. The GWU is vital for the social and economic well being of the workers. It continues to struggle to give a voice to the working class in the national arena. The GWU is a force for change and it is by that virtue that today it is pressing very hard for the country to have a proper and a real social dialogue. It is the GWU's aim that the role of the Malta Council for Economic Development be reformed and transformed from simply a debating society into a platform were effective social dialogue between the social partners takes place.
