Generation Delta

Welcome to Generation Delta! We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation dedicated to empowering Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) female students in their postgraduate research journey. Led by the University of Leeds in collaboration with Goldsmiths University of London, University of Plymouth, University of Reading, University of Sheffield and University of Sunderland. Our four-year project, spanning from 2022 to 2026, is aimed at transforming the experiences and outcomes for BAME female students throughout crucial stages of the research life cycle. At Generation Delta, our ultimate goal is to pave the way for a substantial increase in the representation of BAME female professors within higher education institutions in England. We recognise the significance of diverse perspectives and the need for equitable opportunities in academia. By addressing both institutional and individual barriers encountered by BAME women at various stages of the postgraduate research journey, we strive to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for aspiring academics. Our comprehensive program encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including specialized training, strategic advice, and tangible infrastructural networks specifically designed for BAME female postgraduate research students. Through our three key phases: Access to Academy (A2A), Retention and Progression (RaP), and Training for Careers (T4C), we actively intervene to improve the practical experiences and outcomes for BAME female students.
