Generous Waste

Generous Waste partners with institutions, organisations, and communities to explore the interconnected stories embedded within global supply chains. Through workshops, storytelling, and collaborative research, we examine the cultural, ecological, and psychological legacies of imperialism and colonialism, repositioning individuals within these complex systems to inspire transformative change. Our approach combines decolonial praxis with creative methodologies to map the hidden narratives behind materials and their movement across time and place. By challenging extractive systems and amplifying marginalised voices, we open spaces for critical reflection, dialogue, and the imagining of just futures. We focus on: Mapping Supply Chains: Unveiling how colonial histories shape contemporary resource flows and material cultures. Storytelling for Transformation: Using relatable narratives to reconnect individuals with the materials and environments that shape their daily lives. Creative Decolonial Practice: Engaging participants in projects that reframe waste and resources as opportunities for storytelling and structural change. I nstitutional Collaborations: Partnering with academic, cultural, and ecological institutions to deepen understanding and action on sustainability, equity, and justice. Our work has been described as “magic” for its ability to transform perspectives—whether creating paper from waste, crafting inks from botanicals, or building new narratives around supply chains.
